Lamya Essemlali, presidente dell'organizzazione, gli fa visita "quasi ogni giorno" nel carcere di Nuuk, scrive Afp. La situazione, secondo lui, è chiarissima: "È consapevole del fatto che il Giappone sta mettendo tutto il suo peso politico, che lui è un simbolo politico", ha detto Essemlali ad Afp.Watson, che ha recitato nella serie televisiva reality "Whale Wars", ha fondato Sea Shepherd e la Captain Paul Watson Foundation (CPWF), ed è noto per le tattiche radicali, inclusi gli scontri con le navi baleniere in mare.L'attivista 73enne è stato arrestato il 21 luglio quando la nave John Paul DeJoria ha attraccato a Nuuk per fare rifornimento.Secondo il CPWF, la nave era in viaggio per "intercettare" la nuova nave baleniera giapponese nel Pacifico settentrionale. Watson è stato arrestato sulla base di una "allerta rossa" dell'Interpol del 2012 dopo che il Giappone lo aveva accusato di aver causato danni a una delle sue navi baleniere nell'Antartico due anni prima.Tokyo ha chiesto alla Danimarca di estradarlo alla fine di luglio. Il tribunale di Nuuk si pronuncerà sulla sua detenzione il 15 agosto.
